(TISR) The number one thing that the United States can do to help Taiwan increase its strength and confidence is to help the country join international organizations, say 51 percent of respondents to the latest Taiwan Mood Barometer Survey (in Chinese).

Taiwanese survey respondents were asked to choose among four options for how the United States could best help Taiwan. Assisting Taiwan with gaining membership in international organizations was the most popular answer followed by strengthening the U.S.-Taiwan trade relationship (33.6 percent), helping Taiwan promote its national defense industry (5.7 percent), and selling Taiwan weapons for national defense (2.7 percent)--6.9 percent of those surveyed either replied that they did not know or declined to answer the question.
