(Defense News, By Mike Yeo) South Korean military exports have risen nearly 1,100 percent since 2009. Like South Korea, China is also willing to transfer its own technology abroad to secure sales although most of its customers, such as the recent facilities production facilities in Pakistan to manufacture the JF-17 Thunder fighter jet. It has expanded sales from its traditional partners of Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Myanmar to US ally Thailand, to whom it is selling Norinco VT-4 tanks and VN-1 armored personnel carriers. Thailand has also signed a contract to acquire three diesel-electric submarines from China. Furthermore, China has secured the sale of the Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group’s Wing Loong armed medium-altitude long-endurance unmanned aerial vehicle to the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. This is aided in part by the US's reluctance to sell UAVs to certain countries.
