(Defense News, By Mike Yeo) US Secretary of Defense Mattis is set to give a speech at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore. Souces say that he plans to discuss North Korea and greater regional cooperation to deal with North Korea's nuclear and missile programs. This is a change from recent years, where the focus has been on the South China Sea and China's regional expansion. Experts note that it is important for the US to reassure allies in order to avoid the perception that the US is handing over regional leadership to China.
